amplify - Summer 2027: AI Scientist Intern
Requirements
• Though remote, interns will join a 2-day in-person experience at Amplify HQ in Brooklyn, NY. Throughout the program, interns will engage with Amplify's culture via product demos, team-building activities, and engagement initiatives, plus grow through a virtual speaker series featuring Amplify executives, additional product demos, and dedicated mentorship. • While our summer intern roles are remote positions, interns must be authorized to work in the US, reside in the US for the internship's duration, and be available full-time for the entire program, June 7 – August 13, 2027. • Education: Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, returning to school in Fall 2027 • Full-time availability to participate from June 7, 2027, through August 13, 2027 • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to synthesize information, identify themes, and communicate insights clearly • Knowledge of and interest in the K–12 education technology field • Working knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), or generative AI applications • Experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, or AI/ML research projects — academic or professional • Interest in AI ethics, responsible AI, adaptive learning systems, or AI-driven personalization • Familiarity with Python, R, or SQL; experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus • Exposure to AI research tools, version control systems (e.g., Git), or data visualization platforms
Responsibilities
• Support development, testing, and evaluation of AI/ML models powering Amplify's educational products • Help identify opportunities to apply AI/ML to personalized learning, content recommendations, and student outcomes • Assist with data collection, cleaning, feature engineering, and model validation across structured and unstructured datasets • Contribute to documentation, technical reports, model performance analyses, and research presentations • Track and analyze model outputs to spot patterns, anomalies, and optimization opportunities • Join product demos and Data Science/Product Manager meetings to build knowledge of Amplify's AI-driven products • WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU: • Direct experience with AI/ML tools and frameworks used in EdTech • Real-world challenges affecting educators, students, and families • Collaboration with Data Science, Engineering, and Product teams • Contributions to meaningful AI research and model development in a mission-driven environment • Mentorship from industry professionals at the forefront of AI in education • Exposure to Machine Learning, NLP, Adaptive Learning, and AI Ethics • Hands-on training in a fast-paced, agile environment
