Antheia - Director, Global Supply Chain Planning
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred. • 12+ years of progressive supply chain experience, with at least 5 years in a senior planning role within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or specialty chemical industries. OR equivalent experience at a strategy consulting firm leading implementation of S&OP / IBP processes. • Demonstrated experience as an S&OP or IBP process owner-not just a participant-with a track record of designing, implementing, and maturing the process. • Proven ability to build planning processes and functions from scratch in a high-growth, commercial-stage environment. • Deep expertise across demand planning, supply planning, capacity management, and inventory optimization in a highly regulated environment. • Experience managing supply chain planning across a hybrid manufacturing network of owned sites and CDMOs/CMOs, ideally with cross-border complexity. • Strong financial acumen—able to connect supply/demand plans to P&L, working capital, and budget implications. • Outstanding executive communication and stakeholder facilitation skills; proven ability to influence without authority in a matrixed organization. • Experience with ERP and advanced planning systems, both implementation and optimization • Preferred • Experience in a synthetic biology, fermentation-based, or API/KSM manufacturing environment. • Familiarity with DEA-scheduled substance supply chains and associated regulatory requirements. • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification; IBF CPF certification. • Experience scaling a planning function and building a team in a start-up or high-growth commercial-stage company. • Exposure to global markets including EU regulatory and import/export compliance considerations. • [1] This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Responsibilities
• S&OP / Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Process Ownership • Design, implement, and own Antheia’s global S&OP and S&OE (Sales & Operations Execution) processes from the ground up, establishing a disciplined monthly and weekly cadence. • Serve as the enterprise’s S&OP process owner and primary facilitator; leading cross-functional pre-meetings (Demand Review, Supply Review, Financial Reconciliation) and executive S&OP meetings with senior leadership. • Evolve the process from foundational S&OP to a full Integrated Business Planning (IBP) model as Antheia scales, connecting demand/supply plans to financial and strategic long-range plans. • Define and maintain S&OP governance, meeting cadence, templates, escalation paths, and decision rights across the organization. • Build and maintain executive-ready S&OP dashboards and reporting packages that surface key risks, gaps, and decisions clearly and concisely. • Global Demand Planning & Forecasting • Develop and govern the global demand planning process across all time horizons (short-term execution, rolling 24-month S&OP, and long-range strategic plan). • Partner with Commercial Operations and Finance to build a consensus-based, statistically grounded demand plan for both commercial and new pipeline products. • Establish forecast accuracy metrics, accountability frameworks, and continuous improvement mechanisms to drive increasingly reliable demand signals. • Ensure demand plans reflect market intelligence, new customer wins, product launches, regulatory milestones, and pipeline transitions in a timely and accurate manner. • Global Supply Planning & Capacity Management • Develop and maintain end-to-end supply plans integrating Antheia’s US manufacturing site and European CDMO partners into a unified global supply network view. • Translate demand signals into executable supply plans across fermentation, downstream processing and distribution, identifying capacity constraints, bottlenecks, and risk mitigation options. • Partner with Operations, Technical Operations, and CDMO partners to assess and balance global capacity, ensuring alignment with commercial commitments and financial targets. • Establish supply planning processes that account for the unique dynamics of fermentation-based manufacturing including yield variability, batch campaign scheduling, and yield optimization initiatives. • Drive supply scenario planning and contingency modeling to ensure business continuity and supply chain resilience. • Inventory Strategy & Optimization • Define and implement global inventory strategies including safety stock policies, buffer positioning, and segmentation logic across Antheia’s product portfolio and supply network. • Monitor and manage inventory health using industry specific KPIs, providing regular reporting and recommended actions to leadership. • Optimize working capital through disciplined inventory management without compromising customer service levels. • New Product Introduction (NPI) Planning • Lead supply chain planning for new product introductions, including commercial launches, product scale-ups, and technology transfers across Antheia’s growing pipeline. • Collaborate with R&D, Quality & Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial teams to build integrated NPI timelines that align manufacturing readiness with market launch requirements. • Establish validation batch planning, launch inventory build strategies, and supply risk mitigation plans for each new product entering commercial production. • Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management • Act as the primary supply chain planning liaison to Commercial Operations, Finance, Operations and Quality & Regulatory Affairs, building a planning culture of transparency and accountability. • Engage and manage planning-related interfaces with European CDMO partners, including capacity confirmations, rolling forecasts, and issue escalation. • Influence senior stakeholders and executive leadership through clear, data-driven communication of supply/demand trade-offs and recommended courses of action. • Team Building & Function Development • As Antheia scales, recruit, onboard, and develop a high-performing global planning team, with anticipated near-term headcount based primarily at the US manufacturing site. • Define the organizational structure, roles, and competency framework for the planning function as it matures. • Champion the implementation of advanced planning tools and support ERP/MES systems appropriate to Antheia’s growth stage and complexity. • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, intellectual curiosity, and operational excellence within the planning function. • Perform other duties as assigned[1] • Additional Information: • Full-time base salary range of $180,000 - $230,000 plus an annual bonus potential and equity opportunities. Compensation will be adjusted based on applicant's location. • Opportunity for this position to be fully remote if outside of California or a hybrid role in the Menlo Park, CA headquarters.
