Requirements

• Experience leading and developing designers in a product environment (people management + hiring) • Strong analytical approach to design: comfortable with metrics, experiments, and evidence-based decisions • Ability to set up team-level processes that improve quality and predictability • Excellent communication (written and spoken English) and stakeholder management • Strong understanding of what good design looks like in complex, regulated products (fintech experience is a plus) • Practical experience integrating AI/tools into workflows (beyond ad hoc experimentation) • UK regulated fintech / consumer duty experience • Experience running design systems adoption with engineering • Experience building research/UX analytics practice inside a product team • A key leadership role in a high-growth fintech where design is a strategic differentiator • Ownership to build a measurable, scalable design function (systems, process, culture) • A team and leadership group that actively experiments with AI and modern tooling

Responsibilities

• Managing and developing the design team: structured 1:1s, goal-setting, feedback, and coaching across product + marketing streams • Hiring as the team grows: defining requirements, interviewing, and onboarding • Owning design delivery and operating model: intake, prioritisation, SLAs, delivery tracking, and stakeholder satisfaction • Building a data-informed practice: usability testing, research routines, UX metrics baselines, journey analytics, and evidence-based prioritisation • Governing design quality: standards, review gates, and consistency across product + brand (without being the main IC designer) • Scaling the design system with engineering: documentation, reuse, handoff quality, and adoption tracking • Driving practical adoption of AI/tooling: clear use cases, workflow integration, and measurable impact (not isolated experiments)
