CivilGrid - Engineering Manager
Requirements
• This role reports to the Head of Product & Engineering. It is a hybrid role with expectations that you are working from our Boston, MA office at least 2 days per week if hired. • React, React Native, Tailwind • Bun.sh servers deployed on AWS ECS, Postgres on RDS • ESRI and Mapbox for mapping • Proprietary mapping data service built for speed and customizability • GitHub, Slack, Notion, Figma • 6+ years of experience in software engineering • You’re hands on and have a minimum of 3 years experience in engineering management • Proven track record of growing and managing high-performing engineering teams • Comfortable in a greenfield environment and excited to shape, design, and stand up new systems • Strong communication skills - verbal and written • Have a few war stories to share on running high scale production systems • BS/MS in Computer Science or similar • We're a small, but rapidly growing team that ships. Responsibilities
• Leading and developing a fast-paced engineering team, providing clear direction, feedback, mentorship, and coaching • Owning planning and execution across projects while helping engineers stay unblocked, focused, and aligned • Defining and evolving our hiring process, standards, and team structure as we grow • Building the processes, expectations, and culture that will support CivilGrid's next phase of growth • Is this you? • You’re technical and have minimum 3 years experience in engineering leadership • Proven track record of growing and managing high-performing engineering teams • Comfortable in a greenfield environment and excited to shape, design, and stand up new systems • Strong communication skills - verbal and written • Have a few war stories to share on running high scale production systems • Bonus: BS/MS in Computer Science or similar • Bonus: Prior startup or founder experience • The Tech • React, React Native, Tailwind • Bun.sh servers deployed on AWS ECS, Postgres on RDS • ESRI and Mapbox for mapping • Proprietary mapping data service built for speed and customizability • GitHub, Slack, Notion, Figma
Benefits
• $186K – $250K • Offers Equity • Base salary is only one part of your total compensation package at CivilGrid, which also includes meaningful early-stage equity, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to shape a category-defining company.
