MediSpend - Director, Engineering Java

• 12+ years of experience in Java development, with strong hands-on expertise • Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security • Strong experience in microservices architecture and distributed systems • REST, JSON, SOAP • Hibernate / JPA • Java design patterns (DAO, Factory, etc.) • Strong experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases • EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, etc. • Jenkins, Git-based workflows • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments • Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, messaging systems) • Exposure to frontend technologies (JavaScript frameworks) • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes (EKS) • Experience with performance testing and large-scale data processing systems • Leadership & Behavioral Competencies • Proven ability to lead and manage distributed/global teams • Strong ownership mindset — ability to operate independently and drive outcomes • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with competing priorities • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail • Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and improving engineering practices • Working Conditions/Physical Demands: • This position is fully remote (U.S. only), with limited travel that may be required for occasional team meetings, training sessions, or business events. Work is performed primarily in a home-office environment using standard office equipment such as a computer, keyboard, mouse, and phone.
