GitLab - Lead Internal Events & Production Strategist
Requirements
• Experience planning and producing large-scale, complex internal events for audiences of more than 500 people, ideally within a distributed or remote-first organization. • Experience in corporate events, team member experience, internal communications, or a related function. • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-visibility events while maintaining attention to detail. • Clear communication and confidence partnering with and presenting to senior leaders. • Experience managing event budgets and working with external production vendors and agencies. • Familiarity with virtual and hybrid event platforms, such as Zoom Events, and an interest in using AI tools to improve productivity, ideation, or event personalization. • Ability to use GitLab, or willingness to learn and adopt GitLab tools as part of your daily work. • A self-directed, proactive approach suited to a high-autonomy, asynchronous environment, along with empathy for remote team member experiences and connection across differences. • The People Communications and Engagement function helps GitLab team members stay informed, connected, and aligned in a fully remote, globally distributed company. This range is intended to reflect the role's base salary rate in locations throughout the US. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, alignment with market data, and geographic location. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
Responsibilities
• Design and lead GitLab’s internal events strategy, including company-wide assemblies, ask me anything (AMA) sessions, Company Kick-Off, virtual gatherings, and occasional in-person summits. • Own the full event lifecycle, from concept development and budgeting through logistics, production, delivery, and post-event analysis. • Build scalable, accessible, and inclusive event experiences for a globally distributed workforce across all time zones. • Partner with Executive Communications, the Executive Group, senior leaders, People Business Partners, and cross-functional teams to align programming with company priorities and engagement goals. • Manage external vendors, production agencies, platform partners, creative projects, and internal event budgets with a focus on quality, cost-effective delivery, and return on investment. • Produce high-quality team member stories with agency partners for use in the Loop and internal events. • Define and track event success measures, using data and team member feedback to improve future experiences. • Explore event technologies and formats, including AI-powered tools, virtual platforms, and hybrid experiences, and use Internal Communications channels to build awareness and extend event storytelling.
