Our annual base compensation for this role ranges from $202,300 - $301,700 for most US locations and 5% to 10% higher for US locations with a higher cost of labor. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location. Responsibilities
As a Principal Product Manager for Search, you will partner with a passionate group of globally distributed engineers, external customers, and internal stakeholders like Sales, Product Marketing, Business Development, Legal, Marketing, and Finance to make customers wildly successful in pursuit of outsized business growth.
Define and execute end-to-end vision and strategy for your product.
Conduct analysis to inform your product roadmap and prioritize product backlog.
Develop and refine key metrics and mechanisms to build the right product and continuously validate your strategic direction.
Explore and implement new use cases for your product that address customer pain points and unlock new revenue opportunities in partnership with your engineering team(s) and the broader organization.
Own pricing and packaging of your product as a standalone SKU (including sales enablement, marketing, customer trials, and partnership opportunities).
Regularly engage our customers via video conversations, emails, and in-person visits (10% travel) to understand their needs, as well as validate our proposed solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product goals and delivery phases with overall business objectives.
Become the expert and point of contact of your product for internal and external questions, feedback, and requests.
What’s Important for this Role:
Over 10 years of product leadership experience guiding API, SDK, and data products through full discovery, development, launch, and adoption in the B2B space.
Demonstrated technical depth with the ability to break down complex concepts and communicate them clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences. Strong customer orientation with a focus on understanding user problems and delivering thoughtful, intuitive product experiences.
Data-driven decision maker with advanced analytical skills and a track record of using evidence to evaluate product quality and inform next steps.
Skilled at prioritizing tradeoffs and driving teams toward delivering meaningful and immediate value for customers.
Strong written and verbal communicator with the ability to convey complex ideas concisely across broad audiences, including FAQs, roadmaps, and business cases.
Proven ownership mindset with the ability to independently build, execute, and iterate on product strategies with minimal direction.
Ability to simplify complex challenges and identify the most efficient, high-impact solutions for customers.
Go-to-market leader with experience owning pricing and packaging and developing strategies that successfully scale product adoption.
Benefits
Equity options available for eligible employees after a probation period of six months. Eligibility criteria include at least one year with the company and completion of any required training programs. The amount is determined based on performance, tenure, and market standards within our industry.
Paid time off (PTO) policy includes 14 paid holidays per calendar year plus an additional five personal days that can be used for illness or family emergencies without the need to provide a doctor's note. Employees are also eligible for up to six weeks of vacation after one year with Mapbox, which increases by two weeks each subsequent year based on performance and tenure.
