Abound - Product Associate
Requirements
• A top-tier STEM or Economics graduate (computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, economics or similar) • 0–2 years of experience, including internships, placements or early-career roles with real responsibility • Strongly analytical and confident with SQL and Python, able to go from raw data to a clear recommendation • Able to build with AI. You use AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor) to ship working front-end and back-end code, and you've built things, whether side projects, hackathons, internal tools or production apps • Hands-on with analytics tools such as AWS QuickSight, PostHog or similar BI and product analytics platforms • Commercially minded. You naturally ask how something makes money, and you enjoy modelling unit economics, pricing and P&L • Strong product sense. You have opinions on the products you use, why they work and how they could grow • A structured problem-solver who can break down messy, real-world problems • A clear communicator who can walk an engineer through a model and make a recommendation to leadership • Nice to have: an interest in consumer credit, lending, payments or fintech; experience with experimentation and statistics. • HOW YOU WORK (AND WHAT WE VALUE) • You think like an owner, of both the customer outcome and the commercial outcome • You'd rather build a quick prototype or run the numbers than debate in the abstract • You follow through until problems are actually solved • You're comfortable with ambiguity and don't wait for perfect instructions • You speak up when something doesn't make sense, and you help fix it • You put in extra effort at key moments, such as launches and live incidents, knowing that's where the real learning happens • PROGRESSION & GROWTH • This role is a stepping stone to Product Management, with a clear progression path. As a Product Associate, you'll be expected to: • Build deep knowledge of our products, data and commercials • Consistently own problems end to end and deliver measurable business and customer impact • Show strong judgement, data-driven thinking and stakeholder management • High performers will progress to Junior Product Manager as they begin to: • Own a product area or metric independently, including its commercial performance • Lead defined workstreams within launches or partner integrations • Originate growth ideas that make it onto the roadmap and deliver results • Progression is based on impact and ownership, not time served.
Responsibilities
• Product analytics & insight • Own analysis of product performance across the full funnel: traffic, applications, approvals, conversion, originations, repayment and credit outcomes • Build and maintain the dashboards, metrics and data models that Product, Credit and Operations rely on • Form sharp hypotheses, design experiments (journey changes, pricing, A/B tests) and measure the impact rigorously • Get to the root cause of anomalies quickly, whether the cause is in the data, the code or the customer journey • Unit economics & commercial thinking • Model the economics of each product: acquisition cost, approval and take-up rates, pricing, funding cost, expected loss, servicing cost and lifetime value • Put numbers on the trade-offs behind product decisions, such as wider approval versus higher losses, or partner revenue share versus volume • Track contribution margin and cohort profitability by product, channel and partner, and show where we make or lose money • Growth & product strategy • Come up with ideas for scaling and growing from where we are today (new segments, channels, products and pricing) and estimate what each one is worth • Look across our products and partnerships for places where they reinforce each other: cross-sell, top-ups, repeat lending, shared customers and shared data • Help evaluate new partner opportunities and build the business case, covering volume, economics, integration effort and risk • Turn the strongest ideas into clear proposals and see them through to launch • Building & shipping • Use AI coding tools to build and ship product end to end, across both front-end and back-end, from quick prototypes to features that go live • Build internal tools, automations and data workflows that remove manual work and help the team move faster • Be proficient with our analytics stack: build dashboards in AWS QuickSight and track funnels, events and experiments in PostHog • Use SQL and Python every day to pull, model and analyse data • Learn how our APIs, decisioning flows and data pipelines work, and work directly with engineers on specs, testing and release validation • Support Product Managers with discovery, delivery and partner onboarding • Launch readiness & operations • Define success criteria for each launch and the metrics that show whether it's working • Design test scenarios, including edge cases and failure modes, and test the end-to-end customer journey before release • Work closely with QA to make sure production releases are stable • Monitor production performance after release, and pick up and triage related bugs with engineering • Make sure new products and journeys work at launch for customer support, collections and complaints teams • Use operational data to spot recurring issues, fix them at the source and make sure they're closed out, not just discussed
