Andgo Systems - Senior Product Designer (Contract)
Requirements
• 7+ years in product design, mostly on complex B2B or enterprise software, with a portfolio showing end-to-end work from discovery to shipped product. • Strong interaction design and systems thinking, shown through work on complex, multi-step workflows. • Mastery of visual design principles, with a portfolio that includes polished, information-dense interfaces. • Pragmatic judgment: a record of balancing design quality with delivery constraints and explaining the tradeoffs. • Influence across Product and Engineering, earned through clear reasoning rather than authority. • A track record of joining work mid-stream and making progress quickly. • Comfort with deep domain complexity. Workforce management, scheduling, healthcare operations or similar rule-heavy systems are a strong plus. • Strong facilitation and research skills, including in-person sessions with frontline and operational users. • Hands-on experience designing AI-driven features and working in AI-assisted design and development workflows. • Design system experience: building components, not only using them. • Clear written communication. • Experience with unionized, healthcare or manufacturing workforces. • Design for high-volume mobile use by frontline staff. • How we'll work together • You'll contract as an independent contractor or through your own incorporated business, invoicing monthly against agreed deliverables. • Andgo provides access to Figma, the AI-assisted development workflow and relevant repositories; you use your own equipment. • All work lives in Andgo's tools (Figma, Drive, Jira) with a running decision log. • Weekly check-in with the VP of Product and regular design review with the Design Lead. • NDA and privacy/security onboarding required, as you'll work with customer data and represent Andgo in discovery. • Simplifying complex interactions, Andgo facilitates communication for unplanned, immediate need vacancies and planned absences, ensuring the right person is in the right shift at the right time. • As a team we work best when we work closely together, and when ideas can be exchanged openly and honestly. We want our team to understand the “why” of the work they’re doing, and how it fits into the overall picture of Andgo as a product and business. • Andgo Culture • Andgo Culture • The culture at Andgo Systems is by D.E.S.I.G.N. • Does the right thing. We are intentional in determining the right course of action. We do what’s right, not what’s easy, even when no one is looking. • Does the right thing • Exhibits a growth mindset. Andgo is a growth company. We invest in ourselves and seek knowledge to achieve this growth. What got us here is not going to get us there. • Exhibits a growth mindset • Shows authentic self. We bring our whole selves to work. We have fun, support each other, and contribute positively to our shared culture. We are curious, not judgemental. • Shows authentic self • Innovate & iterate. We thoughtfully experiment and push the boundary, knowing that even when we ‘fail’ it moves us forward. • Innovate & iterate • Good people help first. We add value to every interaction. We have a service-first mentality, whether it’s helping a co-worker or a customer. We listen empathetically. • Good people help first • No ego. We give and receive feedback openly and honestly. We understand feedback is an important process of improvement and we are willing to change our views when presented with new information. • No ego • These shared core values are how we hire, review, reward, and recognize our team, so it’s important that you share these values in order to be a part of the Andgo team.
Responsibilities
• Product Design • Product Design • Pick up design work in flight: get up to speed on decisions to date and keep delivery on pace. • Lead design for new premium, AI-first product areas, as well as our existing platform. • Lead end-to-end design initiatives for the AI-first platform, while continuing to advance and refine our core platform. • Rethink existing workflows to remove friction for frontline and back-office users. • Design how AI shows up for users: confidence, errors, and how a scheduler sees and overrides what the system decided. • Work in an AI-assisted development workflow (Figma connected to AI coding tools via MCP) so design intent carries through to build. • Contribute to building our design system. • Design Craft • Design Craft • Think in systems: design flows, states and interaction patterns that hold together across the product. • Make pragmatic calls: know when a design is ready to ship and when it needs more work, and make the tradeoff clear to the team. • Bring Product, Engineering and stakeholders along through clear rationale, prototypes and evidence. • Customer discovery • Customer discovery • Plan discovery sessions, virtual and in person: agendas, exercises and research goals. • Facilitate sessions that get below surface answers into real workflows, jobs, workarounds and successes. • Run debriefs with the Andgo team, synthesise new learnings and validations, and write the customer-facing follow-up summary. • Working with our team • You'll make day-to-day design calls on product areas, guided by our design standards. • You'll take part in regular design review. • The VP of Product makes the final calls on priorities and direction.
