Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end RFx processes for capital equipment - scoping technical and commercial requirements, issuing RFQs, evaluating responses across capability, throughput, schedule, and cost, and driving supplier selection to award. • Source automated manufacturing equipment for Base production lines - assembly stations, test equipment, automation cells, and integrated line systems - partnering with manufacturing engineering on technical specification and supplier qualification. • Source materials handling and warehouse infrastructure - racking, conveyance, AGVs and forklifts, lift equipment, and dock and storage hardware - to support Base manufacturing and logistics operations. • Source fleet and vehicles - trucks, cars, vans, and trailers - across Base operations, deployments, and service teams, including lease vs. buy commercial structures. • Source power and electrical CAPEX equipment - switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, and substation hardware - that supports Base facility power infrastructure. • Build and maintain spares strategy - critical spares stocking levels, OEM vs. third-party parts qualification, and lifecycle service economics - to protect uptime across the equipment base. • Build and maintain should-cost models for equipment packages - decomposing equipment cost, installation, commissioning, freight, and spares - to anchor negotiations in first principles. • Negotiate equipment pricing, payment milestones tied to factory and site acceptance, spares and warranty terms, and master agreements - ensuring contracts are in place before order and that commercial terms hold up through delivery and ramp. • Own the commercial relationship with equipment OEMs, integrators, and distributors - tracking performance, managing escalations, and building the trust needed to deliver on aggressive build schedules. • Synthesize findings and present clear recommendations - on contract awards, equipment selection, lifecycle cost, and risk mitigation - to manufacturing, operations, and executive stakeholders. • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules. • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing. • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset. • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results. • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information. • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in. • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things. • DO THE BEST WORK OF YOUR LIFE AT BASE.
