Requirements

• Prior experience managing or leading engineers, in addition to hands-on engineering experience. • Full-stack or backend engineering background (React, Next.js, or Vue on the frontend; Python, Node.js, C#, or Go on the backend). • Experience with REST APIs, WebSocket services, and third-party platform integrations. • Familiarity with relational and/or in-memory data stores (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, or MongoDB). • Experience running production systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure with Docker/Kubernetes. • Comfort operating and scaling distributed systems that are already in production and load-bearing. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with non-technical stakeholders. • Background in fintech, trading, or crypto. • Experience with real-time systems and event-driven architectures (Kafka, NATS, or Pulsar). • Familiarity with TimescaleDB or ClickHouse. • Experience managing platform or infrastructure teams that support other product teams internally. • Experience managing teams that use AI-assisted development tools day to day.

Responsibilities

• Hire, onboard, and grow a team of backend and full-stack engineers. • Run regular 1:1s, set clear goals, and give direct, useful feedback. • Own performance management for your team, including calibration and hard conversations when needed. • Partner with Product to scope and prioritize platform and integration work. • Guide architecture decisions for scalable APIs, backend services, and microservices supporting third-party trading platform integrations (NinjaTrader, Tradovate, and others). • Stay hands-on with the code: review pull requests, weigh in on design docs, and unblock engineers on hard problems. • Own delivery, including sprint planning, tracking progress, and keeping commitments realistic against a live production system. • Drive up code quality, testing standards, and CI/CD practices across the team. • Own production reliability and observability, and lead incident response for systems the whole business depends on. • Contribute to engineering standards and hiring practices at the broader Tradeify org level. • Help shape how the broader engineering team hires, onboards, and operates. • Represent the platform team's work, constraints, and technical debt tradeoffs in cross-functional planning.
