Requirements
• Degree in Ecology, Biodiversity, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or related field. • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a similar role • Previous experience with a Developer, an E&S / biodiversity Consultancy, or development financial institution • Practical experience in wind and solar PV utility scale infrastructure assets • Previous experience on bird and bat surveys, collision risk assessments, mitigation and management planning. • Experience managing or coordinating external biodiversity/ornithology consultants. • Knowledge of biodiversity offsets, habitat restoration, and species management plans. • Extensive experience working with IFC Performance Standards on Environmental & Social Sustainability and E&S frameworks of development financial institutions and/or multilateral banks • Previous experience in MENA, Northern Africa, Turkey, Eastern Europe or Central Asia regions is preferred. • Proven ability to work in a team, self-motivated, with a collaborative and committed attitude and great capacity to influence others whilst being diplomatic • Ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organisation and external stakeholders / parties • Quality focused with a strive for excellence with demonstrated report writing skills • Strong sense of ethics and integrity • Passionate about environmental and biodiversity protection and socio-economic development • Have a profound understanding of business impact on society/ecosystems and vice versa through previous multi-disciplinary experience (e.g. NGO, government and corporate) • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint • Current valid driving license • Other spoken languages (i.e. Arabic, French, Russian) are desirable • We appreciate your time in considering a career with Alcazar Energy. Responsibilities
• Conduct environmental screening assessments at origination stage. • Lead biodiversity sections of the E&S due diligence assessments and coordinate third party consultations for early development projects. • Support in interface with Lenders' E&S teams and advisors. • Lead and coordinate baseline studies (biodiversity, avifauna, bat) for portfolio projects. • Manage review of vantage point, acoustic, and seasonal survey programs. • Support collision risk assessments (CRA) and migratory corridor assessments. • Review biodiversity and ornithology inputs to ESIA and related technical studies. • Provide early environmental support with planning and relevant consent applications for project development phases. • Integrate considerations of biodiversity, birds, and bats into the siting, layout, and design of projects. • Apply mitigation hierarchy (avoid, minimize, restore, offset) to manage impacts on species during construction and operation. • Develop and oversee protection measures for endangered or threatened bird populations in relation to turbine placement. • Oversee environmental performance monitoring of Turbine Supplier, Balance of Plant (BoP), EPC contractor through site inspections, progress meetings, documentation review, and performance indicators assessment during construction and operation phases. • Work closely with internal teams & external stakeholders to identify biodiversity risks in projects under development or operations. • Support risk management for the protection of bird populations throughout project lifecycles (construction and operational). • Communicate environmental requirements, procedures, and standards related to avifauna conservation to relevant parties involved with a specific project. • Provide technical guidance on biodiversity considerations during construction phases as needed by contractors or O&M teams. • Support in the development of corporate ESMS for ensuring compliance across all AE portfolio projects at various stages, including alignment with ESIA and Employer requirements. • Develop Project-specific ESMS to ensure biodiversity considerations are integrated into project planning processes as per investor and lender standards. • Oversee the development of Biodiversity Management Plans (BMPs) for projects under Alcazar Energy's portfolio, ensuring alignment with ESIA requirements and other stakeholder expectations.
