Responsibilities
• Learn to develop and support in the development of a variety of learning materials for K-12 student audience. • Asynchronous instructional activities: Create educational content that can be accessed asynchronously by students at their convenience within Miaplaza's platform. This includes developing lesson plans, interactive exercises, quizzes, and other engaging material suitable for online learning environments. The focus is on creating self-paced instructional activities to accommodate diverse student needs across various time zones or schedules. • Multiple choice assessment items: Design multiple-choice questions that align with the curriculum content being developed. These should be clear, concise, and relevant to measure students' understanding of key concepts within each subject area covered by Miaplaza’s K-12 platforms (Miacademy for grades 1-8; Always Icecream & Clever Dragons as supplemental materials). • Educational video scripts or supplemental help videos: Write engaging and informative scripted educational content, including explanations of concepts, demonstrations, examples, practice exercises, and review segments. Create additional supportive material in the form of short instructional videos to aid students who may need extra assistance with challenging topics. • Perform quality assurance checks on soon-to-be released curriculum materials: Review educational content for accuracy, clarity, engagement, alignment with learning objectives and standards, as well as technical issues such as formatting errors or broken links before it is made available to students through Miaplaza’s platform. • Assist in the development of a standards-based curriculum organizational system: Contribute ideas for categorizing educational content based on grade level, subject area, and learning objectives within each course offered by Miaplaza (MiaPrep & Always Icecream). This may involve creating or refining existing taxonomies to ensure that materials are easily navigable and accessible. • Participate in various synchronous and asynchronous professional development and training activities: Engage with other interns, mentors, educators, instructional designers, curriculum developers, content experts within Miaplaza as well as external educational professionals to learn best practices for developing effective online learning materials. Attend workshops or webinars on topics such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL), accessibility standards in digital education, and instructional design principles specific to K-12 curriculum development within the context of Miaplaza’s educational approach. • Schedule: Expected attendance at 3-8 virtual meetings per week during normal business hours as part of team collaboration efforts or professional learning activities related to internship responsibilities and goals.
Benefits
• $23.40 – $29.90 per hour • The expected starting pay range is $23.40 - $29.90 per hour.
