Requirements
• Minimum Diploma/Degree in Accounting with at least 4 years of relevant working experience • Preferably some years of audit experience • Background in accounting for financial services, fintech, banking, or an exchange strongly preferred • Experienced with accounting for complex business entities especially a parent organization with multiple subsidiaries • Collaborative, innovative, flexible, and adept at building relationships across the organization • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment • Excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel including macros, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX MATCH, SUMIF • Google and Microsoft suite proficiency required • Familiarity with SOX is a plus • Working experience with ERP systems (Netsuite is a plus) • Experience or knowledge in cryptocurrency is preferred • This job is accepting ongoing applications and there is no application deadline. • Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution. • We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. • Kraken is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate all Krakenites for their diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions and unique perspectives. Responsibilities
• Manage account reconciliations for accuracy in financial reporting. • Prepare journal entries to record transactions accurately within the general ledger and subsidiary journals as required by Kraken's Chart of Accounts (COA). • Perform monthly close procedures, including multi-entity and multi-currency processes when necessary. • Develop internal controls for financial reporting accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley Act Section 404. • Analyze accounting policies to ensure they are in line with Kraken's business objectives, industry standards, and best practices. • Provide support during the monthly close process by assisting junior staff members or other team leads as needed. • Participate in regular meetings for financial reporting discussions and updates on account reconciliations statuses. • Collaborate with Kraken's IT department to maintain up-to-date software systems, troubleshoot issues related to the general ledger system or other relevant applications as needed.
