OpenFX - Head of Business Operations
Requirements
• Must-haves • 15+ years of relevant operating experience, including meaningful experience leading Business Operations, Strategy and Operations, or a similar function in an organization that has scaled significantly. • A record of improving how teams work and delivering complicated projects involving several teams, with clear evidence of personal ownership and measurable results. • Strong people leadership, including setting clear expectations, coaching capable operators and building an effective team structure. • Excellent analytical and financial fluency, with the ability to turn incomplete information into practical decisions. • Strong written communication and executive judgment, including the ability to make ownership, tradeoffs and decisions clear. • Comfort operating across multiple countries and regulated environments. • Comfort working through ambiguity. You can set a clear way of working and move important work forward without waiting for a detailed playbook. • What helps you stand out • Experience in fintech, payments, banking infrastructure, FX or another regulated industry. • Experience operating through meaningful organizational scale, ideally including a company growing from roughly 80 to more than 250 people across multiple countries. • Experience supporting market launches, partner onboarding, operational readiness or process automation. • Experience working closely with Trade Operations, Partnerships or another specialist operating function.
Responsibilities
• Lead and scale the Business Operations function • Manage, coach and develop the Business Operations team, with clear responsibilities, scorecards and development plans for each team member. • Set a clear process for how the team takes on requests, chooses priorities and allocates its time. • Build the organization, role clarity and capacity plan required for the Business Operations function as OpenFX scales. • Keep the team focused on high-impact projects rather than routine work that belongs within another function. • Lead high-priority projects across teams • Agree with the Head of Operations on the two or three most important projects for the team to lead. • Turn broad objectives into clear outcomes, plans, milestones, owners and decisions. • Lead projects such as launching new currencies and regions, coordinating complex bank and liquidity partner onboarding, improving critical processes and preparing the business for new capabilities. • Build the plan, coordinate the teams involved, track progress, raise blockers and make sure actions are completed. The functional leader continues to own the strategy, requirements and specialist decisions. • Raise risks, tradeoffs and unresolved questions early, and get them to the right decision maker. • Improve how Operations works and tracks performance • Run the weekly Operations review and monthly KPI review, with clear metrics, owners, decisions and follow-up actions. • Partner with Data and functional leaders to establish agreed metric definitions, accountable owners and reliable reporting. • Identify important processes that slow down or fail when several teams are involved, and lead the work to improve them. • Build lightweight processes and automation that improve speed, reliability and scalability. • Produce rigorous market research, opportunity assessments, business cases and operational recommendations. • Work clearly with other teams • Legal and Compliance fully own licensing and compliance strategy, regulatory interpretation, application content, formal submissions and outcomes. Licensing is not part of the Business Operations role. • People and Talent and hiring managers own workforce strategy, recruiting and hiring decisions. Business Operations may occasionally provide limited coordination support when hiring is one dependency within a broader priority initiative. • Trade Operations, Finance, GTM, Product, Engineering and Partnerships continue to own their strategies, teams, specialist decisions and results. • When a program is complete, hand the ongoing work back to the team that owns it rather than leaving it with Business Operations indefinitely.
