Requirements

• Professional experience as a fullstack engineer and confidence working across frontend and backend code. Our purchase applications use Ruby on Rails and Vue.js. • Experience owning technical direction for a product area, including proposing, discussing, and driving thorough, iterative solutions. • Experience building or maintaining transactional or checkout-style flows, ideally in a billing, ecommerce, or subscription context. • Familiarity integrating with third-party billing or customer relationship management systems, such as Zuora, Salesforce, or Stripe, is a plus, not a requirement. • A focus on safe, incremental delivery given the revenue and customer impact of this work. • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely about complex technical, architectural, and organizational problems and propose thorough, iterative solutions. • Written and spoken English proficiency sufficient to collaborate in a remote, largely asynchronous work environment. • Alignment with GitLab's values and a commitment to working in accordance with them. • The Subscription Lifecycle team is part of GitLab's Monetization section and owns the post-purchase subscription experience. You'll partner with Sales, Finance, Information Technology, and Support on secure, reliable purchasing, billing, provisioning, and utilization workflows, and report to the Engineering Manager, Purchase. The team works asynchronously, with regular planning and retrospectives and shared expectations for deployments, incident management, testing, and rollout safety. GitLab's mission is to enable everyone to contribute and co-create the software that powers our world. The Purchase team's mission is to make it as easy as possible for anyone to buy, add on to, or upgrade GitLab through a single, trustworthy, unified purchase experience. For more on how Monetization works, see the Monetization sub-department handbook. • How GitLab Supports Full-Time Employees • Benefits to support your health, finances, and well-being • All remote, asynchronous work environment • Flexible Paid Time Off • Team Member Resource Groups • Equity Compensation and Employee Stock Purchase Plan • Growth and development budget • The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of the United States only. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.

Responsibilities

• Design and build fullstack features across the post-purchase subscription journey. • Contribute to the technical design and implementation of new subscription lifecycle capabilities. • Partner with Product and Design to translate renewal, billing account, and customer experience requirements into resilient, well-tested solutions. • Integrate subscription lifecycle workflows safely with billing, customer account, and internal admin systems. • Write maintainable, well-tested code and follow engineering practices for rollout safety and monitoring. • Participate in code reviews and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback. • Identify and reduce technical debt and architectural risk in the subscription lifecycle. • Participate in incident response for subscription and renewal issues, given their potential impact on revenue and customer access.

Benefits

• $115,200—$194,400 USD • How GitLab Supports Full-Time Employees • Benefits to support your health, finances, and well-being • Flexible Paid Time Off • Team Member Resource Groups • Equity Compensation & Employee Stock Purchase Plan • Growth and Development Fund • Please note that we welcome interest from candidates with varying levels of experience; many successful candidates do not meet every single requirement.
