Requirements
• Deep expertise in global payments infrastructure: licensing, correspondent banking, regulatory frameworks, and strategic market entry across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously. • A proven track record of building and managing complex institutional banking relationships from first conversation to live partnership. • Experience with or a credible, forward-leaning point of view on stablecoin infrastructure, programmable payments, and next-generation cross-border settlement — you are building for the future, not managing the present. • Hands-on expertise in treasury risk management, intra-group funding, and FX and interest rate hedging strategies at scale. • Background in fintech, payments infrastructure, or a regulated global financial institution operating at significant scale. • Executive presence: credible and composed in front of regulators, boards, institutional partners, and your own team. • A builder and a coach: you grow people, set high standards, and hold them with respect. • You operate with extreme ownership — your team’s results are a direct reflection of your leadership. • You communicate with precision: your team always knows what good looks like, and your partners always know where you stand. • You decide and deliver: you make high-stakes calls with available information and adjust fast. • You are a driver, not a passenger. You see what needs to happen and you move — without being told. • You thrive in complexity and bring clarity and momentum where others see noise. • You close the loop. You do what you say. Your team and partners can count on that absolutely. • You are as effective in a regulatory meeting in Singapore as you are pitching a partner in London or presenting strategy in San Francisco. • ## Leadership at Nium • We hire, develop, and promote against six principles: Extreme Ownership, Drivers Not Passengers, Clarity as Default, Decide and Deliver, Close the Loop, and Always-On Feedback. This role lives all six — visibly, consistently, and at scale.
Responsibilities
• Global Payments Network Strategy • Define and execute the global payments network strategy across all licensed markets, aligned to Nium’s commercial and product objectives. • Build the network architecture enabling domestic collection, local disbursement, settlement accounts, and card issuance at scale. • Own the P&L for Nium's payments network — you will be accountable for the commercial performance of the network and expected to bring strong payments commercials instincts to pricing, partner economics, and margin management. • Own the roadmap for next-generation network capabilities — including stablecoin rails, programmable money, and real-time cross-border settlement infrastructure — positioning Nium at the forefront of the next era of global payments. • Own operational accountability for the performance of the network. When things break, you own getting them fixed — fast, completely, and with the confidence of your partners intact. • Global Banking Relationships • Own and grow Nium’s relationships with financial institutions worldwide — from identifying the right partners and pitching Nium as a client, to negotiating commercial terms, completing due diligence, and going live. • Build new banking partnerships in priority markets while deepening and expanding existing ones. • Represent Nium as a credible, trusted counterpart to regulators, central banks, and tier-1 financial institutions globally. • Team Leadership • Lead, coach, and inspire 25 payments specialists across India, the US, Singapore, and the Middle East. • Set a high performance bar and build a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement. • Partner closely with Regional Product teams to align network capability with commercial demand. • Develop the team’s depth in regulatory strategy, risk governance, and institutional relationship management. • Risk, Governance & Compliance • Strengthen the risk and governance framework across all markets in partnership with Risk, Compliance, and Company Secretary teams. • Ensure payment operations remain within regulatory policy and best practice across all 40+ licensed jurisdictions. • Lead with confidence in regulatory engagements, external audits, and licensing processes. • External Representation • Represent Nium externally to regulators, financial institutions, industry forums, and media, you will be a visible, credible face of Nium in the global payments ecosystem. • Speak at industry events and engage with market stakeholders to raise Nium's profile and reinforce our position as the defining global payments infrastructure company of our era. • Work with PR and Product Marketing to shape Nium's external narrative on payments infrastructure, next-generation rails, and market leadership. • ## What Makes You Successful Here
