Requirements

• Experience with Temporal, Cadence, workflow engines, event-driven architectures, orchestration platforms, distributed systems, or production reliability tooling. • Experience in consumption-based, open-source, developer-led, or product-led go-to-market motions. • Experience building technical GTM teams in high-growth companies. • Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, agents, LLM orchestration, developer tooling, observability, or cloud-native platforms. • Track record creating technical content, conference talks, customer workshops, or field enablement programs that influenced pipeline and adoption.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the global SA organization: Hire, coach, develop, and retain high-performing SAs and SA managers across segments and regions. Establish clear role expectations, progression paths, technical standards, and leadership practices. • Create the presales operating system: Define how SA engages across the funnel, including technical qualification, discovery, POV/POC structure, success criteria, activity tracking, technical win/loss, forecast inputs, and capacity planning. • Partner deeply with Sales: Operate as a true partner to Sales leadership. Improve technical win rates, influence deal strategy, inspect opportunity health, drive mutual action plans, and ensure SA effort is focused on the highest-impact work. • Build field engineering and demo leverage: Create standardized but flexible executive and practitioner demos, technical validation assets, objection handling, reference architectures, and reusable proof patterns that help the field move faster with more consistency. • Drive technical and architectural fluency: Ensure the SA team can explain Temporal clearly, reason about distributed systems and production tradeoffs, and guide customers through architectural decisions, including emerging AI and agentic workflow patterns. • Own product and market feedback loops: Build a structured system for converting field insights into product, engineering, marketing, and DevRel signal. Separate anecdotes from patterns and tie feedback to customer impact and business impact. • Lead external thought leadership: Represent Temporal with customers, at conferences, in workshops, and in executive/practitioner conversations. Translate complex technology into compelling stories about reliability, durable execution, AI transformation, and developer productivity. • Build a high-ownership culture: Set a high bar for accountability, learning, collaboration, customer trust, and measurable impact. Make the organization a talent magnet for technical sellers who want to do career-defining work. • 12+ years of professional experience in technical customer-facing roles such as Solutions Architecture, Sales Engineering, Field CTO, Deployed Engineering, Customer Engineering, platform engineering, or similar. • 5+ years leading and scaling technical presales or customer-facing engineering teams, ideally with managers, multiple segments, or a global footprint. • Proven experience building presales operating frameworks: technical qualification, POV/POC methodology, technical win rate measurement, activity tracking, demo programs, capacity planning, and field operating cadence. • Strong partnership with Sales leadership and a track record influencing revenue outcomes, deal strategy, conversion rates, pipeline generation, and expansion in a technical B2B environment. • Technical credibility with developers, architects, engineering leaders, and executives. Experience with developer tools, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, data platforms, AI platforms, or similar technical products is strongly preferred. • Exceptional communication and technical storytelling skills. Able to flex from deep practitioner conversations to concise executive narratives and conference-stage messaging. • Experience attracting, hiring, motivating, and retaining high-caliber technical talent. Clear philosophy on career progression, performance management, coaching, compensation/motivation, and leadership development. • Strong cross-functional influence with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Developer Relations, Developer Success, Customer Success, and Support. • A builder mindset in ambiguous environments: you create clarity through execution, iterate quickly, and own the outcome even when the system is incomplete. • Curiosity and willingness to become deep on Temporal, including where it fits, how developers use it, how customers evaluate it, and how it supports reliable AI and distributed systems patterns.

• Temporal has a strong technical field motion today, but the next phase requires more scale, consistency, measurement, and repeatability. • The SA organization must move from heroics to a durable operating model without losing the technical depth that earns trust with developers and engineering leaders. • Customers need clear guidance on where Temporal fits, how to evaluate it, how to prove value quickly, and how to expand from initial use cases to broader production adoption. • The market needs clear thought leadership on durable execution, AI orchestration, and how to build reliable systems when agents, humans, services, and long-running workflows interact. • The estimated pay range for this role is $360,000- $400,000. • This is a base salary and variable role with a 70/30 split. • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Temporal's equity plan.
